It's been another wild and wooly week here at Haddo, but the daffodils are out, crocuses are in flower and we're looking forward to a beautiful Mothers' Day weekend.
The highlight of the weekend will be our afternoon of owls on Mother's Day. The Owl & The Pussycat Centre are bringing some of their beautiful birds for you to meet and learn all about. We'll also be running some fun owl-themed crafts for the younger children. The owl display and the bushcraft will be on the Pheasantry lawn from 1pm-3pm on Sunday.
If you're bringing Mum or Grandma to Haddo on Sunday then the tearoom will be offering a special Mother's Day menu of smoked salmon salad or a savoury tart followed by pudding for £9.50, or you can have a gorgeous, indulgent cream tea for £4.
Our starlight Creatures of the Night walk is now fully booked, although if you'd be interested incoming on another evening walk later in the year then get in touch and we'll see what we can arrange!
All our owl events are being run as part of British Science Week which runs (for just over a week) from March 14th-22nd. There are loads of other science-themed events for adults and children on across the city and shire and you can check the full events list here.
After a busy week for the maintenance staff, the work at the adventure playground is finished and the play area will be open again by the weekend.
A new drain has been installed along the side of the main path and there's a big new soakaway drain at the lowest part of the playground near the amphitheatre. We'll have to wait for some heavy rain to see if it all works but hopefully it should prevent the flooding we had last autumn happening again.
