Easter's almost here and we're getting ready for the biggest and busiest weekend of the year at Haddo
We've got events on right across the Easter Weekend this year, and all of us have been having a busy week organising extra bins, setting out the matting for the wet areas in the car park and having lots and lots of meetings about marquees...
From Friday to Monday the NTS will be running their Cadbury Easter Egg Trail- solve clues and follow the trail around the grounds. If you make it to the end you'll go home with a tasty Cadbury chocolate egg. The trail will run from 10am-4pm every day and costs £3 per child.
Then on Sunday it's our annual Haddo Egg Hunt. Search through the park for painted wooden eggs and then trade them in for a treat to take home! There'll also be egg decorating and egg rolling on the Scots Mile.
Quick note- this year the egg rolling will be for plain undecorated eggs only (the fancy decorated eggs tend to leave the grass up there covered in paint and sequins and bright pink feathers and it's almost impossible to clear up) so please bring an undecorated egg along if you want to have go.
The Egg Hunt will be running from 10am-3pm, no need to book just turn up and get hunting! All donations on the day go towards the Oldmeldrum Rotary Club's charity works so please do give generously if you can.
We're likely to be incredibly busy over the Easter weekend so if you're just popping down for a dog walk or a quick go on the playground then we'd suggest coming either first thing in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the crowds.
The NTS Tearoom, NTS Shop and Haddo House change to their summer opening hours this weekend.
There are a few changes to previous years- the shop and tearoom will now be open 7 days a week until the autmun, the tearoom from 10am-5pm and the shop from 10.30am-5pm.
Haddo House will be open for tours on Sunday and Monday with two tours a day at at 11am and 2pm. There will be extra opening at Easter when the house will be open from Friday to Monday and there will be three tours a day instead of two. Tours cost £10.50 for adults with concessions and family tickets available and are free for NTS and National Trust members.
We released the dates of our wildlife photography workshops last week and we're already getting lots of bookings - the night-time workshop in particular has been very popular and only has a couple of spaces left. If you're interested incoming along then I'd suggest giving us a call or email as soon as you can before you miss out.
If you're a fan of nature photography then do go and have a look at the winners of this year's Scottish Nature Photography awards which were announced on Thursday. We'll be hosting the winners exhibtion at Haddo in October as part of this year's Haddo Arts Festival.
