It's been a lovely few days here at Haddo, and we've all been basking in a bit of spring sunshine...
We even had a lovely dry evening for our Celtic Storytelling event (mostly I suspect because myself and David the Aberdeenshire Council Ranger had made extensive wet weather plans, which we ended up not needing at all...).
The evening was very popular, and we just about managed to squeeze everyone around the campfire, where they were regaled with myths from the Mabinogion, the story of Thomas the Rhymer in fairyland and a Cornish tale of shipwreck and buried treasure.
If you missed out this time round, we're planning another storytelling evening of especially scary tales for Samhain (Hallowe'en night), so watch this space!
If you fancy a good night out this weekend then why not come along to the annual Ythan Fiddler's Rally on Saturday?
Bruce McGregor will lead the evening, with singing from special guest Barabara Ann Hawkey. If you fancy coming along then you'll find all the details of how to get your tickets on the Ythan Fiddlers website
Our next major event will be the (again annual!) D.A.W.G.S. Day In The Country- a superb fun dog show and family day organised by the dog rehoming charity. This year the Day In The Country is on Sunday 29th May, the show runs from 12.30-4.30pm and there'll be stalls, games, food, raffle and a bouncy castle as well as the dog show with classes for all kinds, types and sizes of pet!
You can find out more about D.A.W.G.S and their work at dawgs.co.uk
Once again we're taking place in this year's Energetica Summer Festival. The Festival itself kicked off last weekend with a tour of Ellon Castle Gardens and runs until the end of August. It features a huge number of outdoor events from long-distance bike rides to history walks.
We're running two Bat Watches, a Summer Wildlife Wander, and Kid's Bushcraft here at Haddo in June and July and I'll lso be leading two Puffin-spotting walks (also looking for seals, dolphins and lots of other seabirds) at Bullers of Buchan on the 4th and 11th June.
You can find full details of our events on the website here, and a complete programme of all the Energetica Summer Festival events at energetica.uk.com/festival2016
