Doggy First Aid in the Pheasantry

We are delighted to be hosting a Critical Care for Canines course at Haddo on May 11th.

This course is brilliant for people who work with dogs: dog walkers, veterinary assistants, pet sitters, but also dog owners who want to make sure they are making the best health decisions for their four-legged friends.

The course was designed in conjunction with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, so you can be rest assured that all advice comes from a trained professional who knows how best to deal with both common and not-so-common health conditions.

'Dog First Aid', the course provider, has worked with the Ministry of Defence, Police, Security, and Search & Rescue dog handlers.

Some of the things you will learn on the day are listed below:

  • How to examine a dog correctly and safely
  • Scene assessment – keeping yourself safe whilst helping the dog
  • What a Dog First Aider's role is – what you can and can’t do
  • Canine CPR – NOT the same as with a human!
  • How to act if a dog starts choking
  • Dog fights – how do you split up two dogs wanting to kill each other??
  • Different types of bleeds and what to do
  • Drowning dogs – when can they drown and how to react
  • Which burns to treat and how
  • Heat stroke – a killer
  • Road traffic accidents
  • Eye Injuries

To book please email Suzanna on vsohaddo@gmail.com.  The course costs £49.50 and all qualifying participants will receive a certificate of competency that is valid for three years.
